How Tall?

How tall will a tree grow?

As tall as it can!

Have you ever seen a tree grow half as much as it could? I haven't.

I've been listening to a lot of Jim Rohn lately and it seems every phrase he says I think to myself "I need to put that in a chapter and tell people!” so if you haven’t already, I strongly recommend you pick up ANYTHING Jim Rohn.

So, what does he have to do with fitness? Nothing. And everything.

He talks a lot about attitude, and I am a strong believer that without the right attitude about fitness, it can be pretty miserable. I mean it's doable. You can come into the gym each and every day saying "I hate working out, I hate the music, the change rooms smell, the gear stink, it's too hot, it's too cold, it's nice out, I'm too tired, I'm too sore etc." and just push through all those thoughts and get your workout done but guess what? You're a ticking quitter, moments from giving up. Whenever we hear someone complain we know they are on their way out!

Working out is way too hard if you can't check your attitude in the right direction. Some people amaze me though, heck I’ve had one client come running into the fitness class, all sweaty, and when asked why she told us her car caught on fire down the street but didn’t want to miss the workout so she left it on the side of the road with the fire fighters and RAN to the studio for class. That’s dedication, that’s commitment to her goals.

How do you feel about fitness? I read a quote the other day that said "it's not a great day until I work out". That’s a great attitude. Working out should be a part of your life, especially if your diet sucks!

Does that mean you will never need a push? Not at all! We all have good days and bad days, but the trick is to have more good days than bad days. Have more good days than bad days and aim for a good week. Have more good weeks than bad weeks and have a good year. Have more good years than bad years and have a good life.

Sounds like a pretty good plan to me!

To your success,

Al
