Can I ask you something...
Are you still interested in losing weight?
Are you still interested in toning up?
Are you still interested in your dream body?
Or have you given up on your goals? Or, more importantly, on yourself?
Have you bought into the notion that you're meant to be the way you are? That change is for those other “lucky” people and not you? That you're destined to wear your "fat clothes" forever?
Have you bought into the notion that it takes years to lose weight? That you need to keep at it day after day for the rest of your life, fighting for limited results?
Something's been on my mind lately...and it's been, shall I say, "reinforced" recently so now I'm writing to you about it...
If you've been exercising for any reasonable length of time (to me that's 4 weeks or more) and aren't seeing results then perhaps YOU are doing something wrong.
I mean... really...
I don't know about you, maybe I'm just different, but when I'm going to put effort into something, I like to ethically "stack the deck" in my favor.
When it comes to diet/fitness everything needs to be intentional. You either plan to win or plan to fail. You either eat to be fit or you eat to be fat, both are intentional. Someone eating fast food can't honestly say they aren't trying to get fat. That's like telling a Game Warden that your line, hook, bait and sinker is just in the water but you aren't actually fishing.
So again - You either eat to be fit, or you eat to be fat. You either eat to cleanse the system, or you eat to clog it. You either eat to nourish, or you eat to starve yourself. You either eat for health, or you eat for disease.
Back to stacking the odds in your favor...
For those of you who drive... Don't you like it when your vehicle runs smoothly? I don't know about you, but I HATE mechanical issues, or having to worry about them. I like to keep my truck running smoothly so when I'm driving my kids around town, we aren't stuck on the side of the highway somewhere with a broken down vehicle. I like to keep my truck running smoothly so I can enjoy life more readily with it. I like to keep my truck running smoothly so I transport my toys. I like to keep my truck running smoothly so I can get to work. There are so many positive reasons as to why I need my truck running smoothly.
In order to enjoy the perks of a good truck, I need to take care of it.
I use the appropriate fluids, I give it what it needs, even if it cost more, to keep it running optimally.
I've only got one body. I rely on this body to not just get me through the day but to help my seize each day and make it amazing. My family needs this body to keep working until I'm an old fart. In order to reach that goal, in order to give myself, my family, my work, my personal life the FULL benefits of LIFE, I need to take care of this body.
And like my truck, it takes regular maintenance of the good stuff - not the junk - to keep it that way.
Are you treating your body like the Porsche that it is or has the potential to become? Or are you treating it like some replaceable, expendable, unimportant jalopy? Are you expendable? Or should you do everything in your power to make sure you are HERE today, and tomorrow, and the day after.
Do you think or feel that simply “being present” at your workouts is good enough? I mean, when I was in high school, I "was present" to my classes, but the effort ended there and trust me, my grades reflected my effort.
If your fitness was a high school class, would you be failing it or on the honor roll? Would you be getting praised and rewarded for your effort? Unlike school, where you only ever really got "graded" was during test, your grading is every time you look in the mirror. Every time you get dressed. Every moment of every day is a grading for your effort.
Your life is in direct proportion to your effort.
What's your life like? Should we re-examine your effort? In 6 weeks, could you have a new life? I’ve had countless clients drop 10, 20 even 30 pounds in only 6 weeks.
You don’t have to stress about planning the next 5 years, you can start with a few weeks. Six weeks can change your life forever.
Here's what one of my clients said in regards to a 6 week transformation: "Thanks Al and Ray, this has been the best 6 WEEKS I've had in a long time. I used to wake up most nights and mornings with a sore back but lately I sleep the night and I feel great come morning. I' m about 3/4 of the way through ATGW & I have to admit before I started reading it I was expecting a "raw raw you can do it book", but it is definitely not and I love it, so thanks again and onto phase 2."
Can't get much better than that. What's ATGW you ask? It's the book I've been recommending for years and encourage you to get it as well.
It’s called Awaken the Giant Within by Anthony Robbins and it can change your life in incredible ways. In fact, his book has been a staple in my own personal life.
Have motivation issues? Read his book.
Have relationship issues? Read his book.
Have nutrition issues? Read his book.
Have career issues? Read his book.
Have financial issues? Read his book.
Have aspiration issues? Read his book. (YES, having no aspirations in life is an issue. Don't kid yourself. Your destined for greatness, but you need to go after it.)
Having attitude issues towards me pushing his book? Read his book.
Did I mention read the F$#@%!% book?
Your life is a direct result of your decisions, your effort, your actions…
Kick it up.
Step up.
Raise your standards.
Quit going through the motions.
Go nuts.
Work your butt off.
Put in the effort.
Push past the point you thought you could.
Go like your life depended on it.
Every day I see folks go through the motions and their bodies are in DIRECT PROPORTION TO THEIR EFFORT.
I wrote a newsletter once and the subject line was "the corners you cut in your fitness/diet show up on your body" and that’s a result of effort.
Let's get to work, you deserve it.
To your success,
Al
